Rooted – Terms of Use (EULA)

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and the operator of the Rooted mobile application (“Rooted”, “we”, “us”) for the app identified as com.betterlife.rooted on the Apple App Store and Google Play. By downloading or using Rooted you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Licensed Application End User License Agreement: to the extent you obtained Rooted from the Apple App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. Where these Terms and Apple’s standard EULA conflict regarding Apple’s role as storefront, Apple’s terms control for that purpose.

1. The service

Rooted is a personal habit-tracking and wellbeing companion with optional Premium features (Guide AI coaching, plans, rituals, and related tools). Features may change over time.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate account information and keep your login secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You may delete your account in Profile settings.

3. Acceptable use

Use Rooted only for lawful, personal purposes
Do not abuse, reverse engineer, or disrupt the service
Do not use the Guide for emergencies or as a substitute for professional care

4. AI-generated content

Guide responses are AI-generated for informational and motivational purposes only. They are not medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. Seek a qualified professional for health decisions.

5. Auto-renewable subscriptions & free trial (Rooted Premium)

Rooted Premium is offered as an auto-renewable subscription, available in two plans:

Rooted Premium Monthly — 1-month auto-renewing term (illustrative price: USD $7.99/month)
Rooted Premium Yearly — 1-year auto-renewing term (illustrative price: USD $76.99/year)

The exact price for your currency and region is shown on the in-app purchase screen before you subscribe, and must match the price shown in the Apple App Store or Google Play payment screen at checkout.

Free trial terms

New subscribers may be eligible for a 3-day free trial on the Monthly plan, the Yearly plan, or both, where offered.
The trial length and the exact price you’ll pay afterward are shown on the in-app offer screen before you start the trial.
When the trial ends: unless you cancel before it ends, your Apple ID or Google Play account is automatically charged the full then-current price of the plan you selected (e.g. $7.99 for Monthly or $76.99 for Yearly, or the price shown at checkout), and the subscription begins its normal auto-renewing billing cycle from that point.
How to cancel to avoid being charged: cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. On iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Rooted → Cancel Subscription. On Android: open the Google Play app → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Rooted → Cancel. Canceling stops the future charge; it does not refund any amount already paid.
Free trials are limited to one per user/account per subscription group, at the platform’s discretion, and may not be combined with other trial or introductory offers for the same subscription.

Renewal & cancellation

Subscriptions automatically renew for the same term (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment for renewal is charged to your account within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel anytime using the same paths listed above (Settings → Subscriptions on iOS; Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions on Android) — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Premium access until then.

Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited once a paid subscription period begins. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their respective refund policies, not directly by us.

6. Free tier & advertising

Free users may see advertisements. Personalized ads on iOS require your tracking permission. Premium removes ads as described in the app.

7. Intellectual property

Rooted, its design, and content (excluding your personal data) are owned by us or our licensors. You retain rights to content you create in the app (habits, journal entries).

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use data. It is part of these Terms.

9. Disclaimer & limitation of liability

Rooted is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations — in those cases our liability is limited to the maximum permitted.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms. You may stop using Rooted and delete your account at any time.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
