Rooted – Privacy Policy

Rooted (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a personal growth and habit-tracking mobile application operated for the Rooted app (bundle ID com.betterlife.rooted). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using Rooted you agree to this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account information

Email address and authentication credentials (via Firebase Authentication)
Display name and optional profile photo
Account creation date and premium / subscription status

1.2 Habit & growth data

Life-assessment answers, habits, streaks, completions, intentions, gratitude entries
Life Tree preferences (species, name), star code, and constellation friend connections you choose
In-app Guide chat messages you send (processed to generate responses)

1.3 Device & technical data

App preferences (theme, language, notification and sound settings)
Approximate location (optional) — used only on-device for sunrise/sunset tree sky; not stored on our servers
Push notification token if you enable reminders
Crash / diagnostics data if enabled

1.4 Advertising identifiers (free tier)

On iOS, if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission, Google AdMob may use the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) to deliver personalized ads. If you deny permission, ads may still show in non-personalized form.
On Android, Google Advertising ID may be used subject to your device ad settings.

2. How We Use Information

Provide habit tracking, Life Tree, Guide coaching, notifications, and social constellation features
Process subscriptions and restore purchases via Apple / Google and RevenueCat
Show ads to free users via Google AdMob
Improve reliability and fix bugs

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your habit content to target ads.

3. Tracking & App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

“Tracking” under Apple’s rules means linking data collected from the app with third-party data for advertising or sharing with a data broker. Rooted requests tracking permission only to allow personalized advertising through AdMob. The permission dialog appears after you reach the main app experience and before the advertising SDK is initialized for personalized ads. You can change your choice any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

4. Subscriptions & Payments

Rooted Premium is billed and processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) — we never receive or store your card number or other full payment details. To unlock Premium features across your devices, we receive limited purchase/subscription status (e.g. active, trialing, expired, renewal date) from Apple/Google via our subscription-management vendor, RevenueCat, and store that status against your account.

This Privacy Policy covers only how that subscription status data is used. For the commercial terms of a subscription — free trial length, when a trial converts to a paid charge, exact pricing, auto-renewal, and how to cancel — see the Terms of Use (EULA), Section 5.

6. Data Storage & Security

Data is stored in Google Firebase (encrypted in transit). Access is limited by authentication and security rules. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Your Rights

Access and update profile data in the app
Delete your account in Profile (removes Firebase account data associated with Rooted)
Disable notifications; deny tracking; opt out of personalized ads in OS settings
EU/UK users: rights under GDPR/UK GDPR including access, erasure, and complaint to a supervisory authority

8. Children

Rooted is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

9. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy. The “Last updated” date will change. Material changes may also be noted in the app.
